Check out the technological features of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2017 E-Class spy shots
No doubt the S-class is a nice car but the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class with all its technological features would make its older brother look like the last child in a family. It packs some of the features of the 'car of the future' like automated driving and automated parking etc. which I believe, that's what you and I want to see in a car. And the E-Class sedan won't disappoint. AutoBlog revealed the features of the 2017 E-Class sedan and we are here to give you a run down.Check them out below.
Semi Autonomous driving

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which will make its official debut at the 2016 Detroit autoshow, is a semi autonomous luxury car. In other words, it is able to drive on its own without any input from you. Like Tesla Model S cars that drive themselves on the highways, all thanks to its autopilot  system and the V7.0 software update, E-Class  has what the German car maker calls 'semi automated assistance system' that consist of smarter adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. It takes the driving from you in certain situations, while still allowing you to be in control by having your hands on the steering wheel.

Unlike Tesla cars with autopilot software update that pilot themselves on the highways with lane making, the 2017 E-Class does so even on public roads with no lane markings. It does so by following the car ahead and by scanning for structures such as guardrails and even buildings at the side of the road.

Park with a smartphone

Owners of the E-Class luxury saloon will be able to park their vehicles  with a smartphone via an app called ''Mercedes connect me'' developed by the German automaker. This capability is a feature called autonomous park pilot.

Mercedez autonomous park pilot is similar to the remote parking found in the BMW 7 series. Once you arrived at your destination, just activate the parking system and step out of the car. When you find a parking space, you can control your car into the spot by circling on the phone's screen within 10 feet of the car.

Your smartphone now your car key.

It's turns your phone into a car key.You can unlock your E-Class door with an NFC-enabled smartphone like the iPhone 6s or Galaxy S6, instead of your car key. Just point and tap your smartphone at the driver's door and it will open. This is very similar to BMW's take on the 7 series that offers a key fob and touchscreen. It also has a cradle that offers wireless charging to a NFC handset with a secure SIM card.

Share information with other vehicles(V2X communication)

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan will come pre-installed with what is known as V2X or vehicle to X. This X stands for other vehicles and infrastructures. It will allow the 2017 E-Class to share information such as traffic with other vehicles via a Mercedes server. This will help improve vehicles safety.

The E-Class also has Active Braking and Evasive Steering Assist to assist you  detect and avoid hitting pedestrians that jump on the road out of the 'blue' and also to avoid collision with the car in front by slamming on the brakes when the system detects that an evasive maneuver is not possible. It also adjusts if you put in too much steering to keep the car E-Class stable.

Adaptive LED Matrix Lighting.

Introduced on the CLS for 2014, Mercedes’ Multibeam LED headlamps are enhanced for the 2017 E-class. The individual LED count increases from 24 to 84, each individually controllable—switching between high- and low-beams, and the curve-following adaptive-lighting functions are now achieved entirely via electronics. The light pattern is also altered in city driving or via information from the navigation system (such as when approaching intersections). Additionally, the light unit glows blue, which just looks cool.

Syria conflict: Iran to attend talks in Vienna

ranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will attend multilateral talks on finding a political solution to the conflict in Syria in Vienna this week, a government spokeswoman has said.
It will be the first time Iran - an ally of President Bashar al-Assad - has attended such a summit with the US.
Representatives of Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey will also attend the talks.
Earlier, the US said an invitation had been extended to Iran - a move Syria's Western-backed opposition questioned.
Meanwhile, Russia said its aircraft had struck 118 "terrorist" targets in Syria over a 24-hour period - a new record - as a result of what its defence ministry said was new intelligence.
The main round of talks on Syria is expected to take place on Friday, but diplomats say some preparatory meetings could happen on Thursday evening.
Washington struggles for clear line on Syria
"We have reviewed the invitation, and it was decided that the foreign minister would attend the talks," Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said.
Egypt and Iraq also confirmed they had accepted invitations to the meeting.
BBC diplomatic correspondent James Robbins says that while the US is certainly not welcoming Iran to the Syria talks, it will now tolerate Tehran's involvement.

Iran's Fars news agency said Mr Zarif had discussed participation in the Vienna talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by phone on Tuesday.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later told reporters that Russia wanted a "widening of the dialogue" on Syria.
Iran is believed to have spent billions of dollars over the past four years propping up President Assad's government, providing military advisers and subsidising weapons.
However, Syria's political opposition has warned that Iran's involvement will only complicate the meeting in Vienna.
Both Iran and Russia - another ally of President Assad - have recently stepped up their military role in the Syrian conflict.
Iran has long acknowledged sending military advisers to Syria, but has denied the presence of any ground forces.
Despite that, unconfirmed reports earlier this month said that hundreds of Iranian troops had arrived in Syria.
They were reported to be joining government forces and fighters from the Lebanese Shia Islamist movement, Hezbollah, in assaults on rebel positions in northern and central Syria.
Russia began its military intervention in Syria at the end of last month, launching air strikes in support of President Assad.
Russia and Iran have insisted that Mr Assad must be part of any transition government and that the Syrian people must be allowed to decide who governs them.
The US has indicated it could only tolerate President Assad during a short transition period, after which he should step down.

Why is there a war in Syria?
Anti-government protests developed into a civil war that, four years on, has ground to a stalemate, with the Assad government, Islamic State, an array of Syrian rebels and Kurdish fighters all holding territory.
Who is fighting whom?
Government forces concentrated in Damascus and the centre and west of Syria are fighting the jihadists of Islamic State and al-Nusra Front, as well as less numerous so-called "moderate" rebel groups, who are strongest in the north and east. These groups are also battling each other.
What's the human cost?
More than 250,000 Syrians have been killed and a million injured. Some 11 million others have been forced from their homes, of whom four million have fled abroad - including growing numbers who are making the dangerous journey to Europe.
How has the world reacted?
Iran, Russia and Lebanon's Hezbollah movement are propping up the Alawite-led Assad government, while Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar back the more moderate Sunni-dominated opposition, along with the US, UK and France. Hezbollah and Iran are believed to have troops and officers on the ground, while a Western-led coalition and Russia are carrying out air strikes.

Spectre stars join royals for James Bond world premiere

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have joined the stars of new James Bond film Spectre for its world premiere in London.
The royal guests were met by director Sam Mendes and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson ahead of the screening at the Royal Albert Hall.
Daniel Craig, who has played 007 for a decade, was the first to arrive on the red carpet on Monday night.
He told the BBC: "It's changed my life and I've loved every second of it."
The star also admitted that he "hated" watching himself on screen, but said "I love playing James Bond".
Craig said Mendes was "one of the best directors there is" and that he had enjoyed being "creatively involved from the very beginning".

Image caption The stars brought plenty of glamour to the red carpet event

Other cast members on the red carpet included Naomie Harris, Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Andrew Scott, Dave Bautista and "Bond girls" Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci.
Bellucci said it was a "great pleasure" to be part of the "amazing tradition" of Bond films.
"It's magic," she said. "It's incredible how James Bond represents so much, not just in England actually, but all over the world."
Scott, who plays a new character called Denbigh, said that the franchise had lasted so well because it kept "reinventing" itself.
The Sherlock star added: "The storyline in this movie is about surveillance and how we're watched constantly. There's a lot of prescient subject matter in the recent Bond films."
Spectre is the first Bond film to open in cinemas on the same day as its premiere.
Mendes said he was delighted that the public were also getting to see the film. " I love the idea that cinemas around the country will be full tonight at the same time as we are doing the royal premiere."

Tim Masters, entertainment correspondent on the red carpet

"It's just fantastic to see everybody out tonight," said Daniel Craig as he arrived on the Spectre red carpet that snaked further than the eye could see around the Royal Albert Hall.
Hundreds of fans - some of whom had queued since Saturday - lined the route in the hope of a photo with Craig. He didn't disappoint them.
As several thousand guests surged into the famous domed venue, huge speakers pumped out Bond themes past and present, as clips from Spectre played out on giant screens.
Famous faces on the carpet included Dames Shirley Bassey and Joan Collins, Hobbit star Martin Freeman, musician Will.i.am and former Bond girl Maryam D'Abo from The Living Daylights.
For two hours the whole event was telecast around the world - just as cinema audiences prepared to watch the film for the first time.
When it comes to world premieres, nobody does it better than 007.

The 24th official entry in the franchise sees Bond battling a criminal syndicate led by Franz Oberhauser, played by Waltz.
Spectre is the third Bond film chosen for the Royal Film Performance since its inception in 1946. It follows previous premieres for Die Another Day (2002) and Skyfall (2012).
Early reviews have been positive, with some critics awarding the film five stars.
Speaking to the BBC last week, Craig said he had not made any decisions about whether he would carry on playing 007.
The actor, on his fourth outing as the superspy, had told Time Out magazine that he would "rather slash [his] wrists" than make a fifth Bond film.
But he told the BBC's Lizo Mzimba: "I'm quite straightforward and I say things when I feel it and then I change my mind. I'm just like everybody else."
Speaking to the BBC on the red carpet, producer Barbara Broccoli said: "I'm pretty determined to keep him!"

Spectre was shot at Pinewood Studios and filmed on location in London, Mexico City, Rome and Tangier and Erfoud, in Morocco.
The shadowy organisation Spectre - which was previously an acronym for the Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion - last made an appearance in 1971's Diamonds Are Forever, with Sean Connery as Bond.

Adele heads straight to number one

Adele's comeback single, Hello, looks set to top the singles chart, after selling 165,000 copies in three days.
Early figures from the Official Charts Company show the single has been downloaded 156,000 times, with the rest of the total derived from streaming.
The star is also set for a US number one, after selling roughly 450,000 downloads in 48 hours.
The song's video, which also premiered on Friday, has been watched more than 70 million times on YouTube.
Directed by Canadian film-maker Xavier Dolan, the video sees Adele raking the coals of a faded relationship.
Her ex-boyfriend is played in flashback scenes by Tristan Wilds, a former child actor from acclaimed crime series The Wire, who released his own Grammy-nominated album, New York: A Love Story, in 2013.
According to Entertainment Weekly, it is also the first music video to be shot with large-format IMAX cameras.

Sales record

Hello is the lead single from Adele's third album, 25, which is due out on 20 November.
Reviews for the single have been overwhelmingly positive. The Guardian called it "striking, witty and lovelorn"; while the Telegraph described it as "a beautiful song of loss and regret".

Following its release on Friday, it topped the iTunes chart in 102 countries, and the album topped the pre-order chart in 93 countries.
In the UK, Hello is expected to have the biggest opening week of the year, beating Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do, which achieved 173,000 combined sales and streams in February.
The star could also smash a US record for selling the most downloads in a single week - set in 2009 when Flo Rida's Right Round was bought 636,000 times.
Such figures emphasise the importance of Adele's career in an ailing music industry. She is one of the remaining few artists - others include Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Ed Sheeran - who can convince fans to pay for their records.
Her last album, 21, sold 30 million copies worldwide, and it is hoped that its follow-up, 25, will mirror that success.
If so, it could help reverse figures from the first half of this year, which showed that sales of both CDs and digital albums had fallen in the UK.
But, speaking last Friday, Adele told the BBC she was not feeling the weight of expectation.
"I feel like every album I'm ever going to write is always going to be following 21," she said. "No matter what this album does, my next record's going to be following 21.
"It's phenomenal what happened with that - but it is a phenomenon. I can't really include it in any expectations of anything I ever do again."

Afghanistan-Pakistan quake: Rescue efforts expanded

Media captionAfghanistan-Pakistan earthquake leaves at least 275 dead as Ben Bland reports
Rescue efforts are being stepped up to help those affected by the magnitude-7.5 earthquake which hit remote areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan on Monday.
At least 275 people are known to have died, and up to 2,000 were injured.
Rescue teams have been sent to remote mountainous areas where the effects of the quake are still unclear.
The quake's focus was deep, reducing its impact. Victims included 12 Afghan schoolgirls killed in a stampede as they tried to leave their classes.
"They fell under the feet of other students," a disaster official in the province of Takhar told Reuters.
Reports said many people across the region, afraid of a new quake, spent the night sleeping outside in temperatures close to freezing.
Afghanistan's Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah, said the earthquake was the strongest felt in the country in recent decades.
The government was working to provide assistance for those affected, he said.
One official from the north-eastern Badakhshan province told Associated Press that rescue teams would not be able to reach affected mountainous areas until later on Tuesday.
Parts of the province have also been seized by Taliban fighters.

Most of the fatalities so far reported are in northern Pakistan, with at least 214 known casualties.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province alone, authorities said at least 179 people were known to have died, and more than 1,800 were injured.
The Pakistan Red Crescent tweeted that its disaster response team had been dispatched to the affected areas.
Pakistan's information minister said the top priority was to save lives, and the rescue operation would continue "round the clock", state media reported.
India, Iran and US forces in Afghanistan have all offered help, but so far the local authorities have not requested assistance.

Analysis by Jonathan Webb, BBC News science reporter

Even at its revised magnitude of 7.5, this was a powerful tremor. Around the world only about 20 quakes each year, on average, measure greater than 7.0.
But its focus was deep - much further below the surface than the 7.8 quake which brought widespread destruction to eastern Nepal in April. That event was only 8km deep and was followed in early May by an aftershock with magnitude 7.3.
Similarly, the devastating 2005 Kashmir earthquake was magnitude 7.6 and just 26km deep. Today's quake, at a depth of more than 200km, appears to have caused widespread but less severe ground shaking.
Afghan quake: The corner of a continental collision

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake was centred in the mountainous Hindu Kush region, 76km (45 miles) south of Faizabad, in Badakhshan province.
It was deep - over 200km (125 miles) below the surface - which meant the shaking at ground level was less than for a shallow earthquake.
The USGS said a series of tremors - all measuring 4.0 or higher - had struck west of the original quake in the following hours.

Residents of Kabul and the Indian capital Delhi were shaken by the earthquake, which sent frightened people rushing into the streets.
Buildings in the Tajik capital Dushanbe were also damaged by the tremors.
The region has a history of powerful earthquakes caused by the northward collision of India with Eurasia. The two plates are moving towards each other at a rate of 4-5cm per year.
In 2005, a magnitude-7.6 quake in Pakistan-administered Kashmir left more than 75,000 people dead.
In April this year, Nepal suffered its worst earthquake on record, with 9,000 people killed and about 900,000 homes damaged or destroyed.

Five Britons dead after Canadian whale-watching boat sinks

Five Britons were killed when a whale-watching boat sank off the coast of western Canada, UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said.
The boat carrying 27 people sank near Tofino, a popular tourist area on Vancouver Island, on Sunday afternoon, killing a woman and four men.
Officials said 21 people had been rescued and one was still missing.
The cause of the accident remains unknown but sea conditions at the time of the incident were said to be calm.
Barbara McLintock from the British Columbia coroner's office, said the victims ranged in age from 18 to 76. Three were tourists on holiday from the UK, while two were British nationals living in Canada - one woman from British Columbia and a man from Ontario.
The boat, Leviathan II, made a mayday call before sinking about 8 miles (12km) west of Tofino.
A dive team from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are searching for the final missing person while Canada's Transportation Safety Board have begun an investigation in Tofino.
Mr Hammond said: "It is with deep sadness that I can confirm five British nationals have lost their lives when the whale watching boat they were on sank off Western Canada on Sunday.
"My thoughts are with the family and friends of all those affected by this terrible accident."
Mr Hammond said consular staff in the region were supporting the family members of those who had died and were in close contact with the Canadian authorities.
Within 30 minutes of the mayday call, a rescue helicopter and boat were on the scene. Other boats in the area also responded to the call for help.
Lieutenant Paul Trenholm, from the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in British Columbia, said people from the nearby indigenous First Nation villages had been first on the scene.
"Without the assistance of the First Nation community this could have been much worse," he said.

Media captionAmateur video shows the stricken whale-watching boat in the sea
Eyewitness Alec Dick, from nearby Ahousaht First Nation, told Canada's Global News network: "They got swamped by a wave. It just flipped their boat completely. I've never seen, in my involvement with search and rescue, heard this happen before."
Tofino fishing guide Lance Desilets said at least 12 rescue boats were already out on the water when he arrived on the scene.
"I saw a lot of personal belongings, a long diesel slick and the top 10 feet of the Leviathan II sticking out of the water," he said. "It's a sad day for our community."
Canadian broadcaster CBC reported that because of the size of the boat passengers would not normally be requested to wear life jackets while on board.

'Thoughts and prayers'

The 20m (65ft) boat was operated by Jamie's Whaling Station and Adventure Centres.
In a statement on the company's website, owner Jamie Bray said: "It has been a tragic day. Our entire team is heartbroken over this incident.
"We are doing everything we can to assist our passengers and staff through this difficult time. We are co-operating with investigators to determine exactly what happened."
Another whale-watching boat operated by the same company capsized in 1998, killing two people, including the boat operator and a tourist from Germany.
The six-metre vessel was on a three-hour trip in the area of Plover Reef when it was hit by a large swell, throwing four people into the water.

Tofino is a popular destination for tourists wanting to spot humpback and Pacific Gray whales, and trips usually last up to three hours.
Mayor Josie Osborne said whale-watching was a core part of the tourism business in the small tight-knit community.
"My heart sank immediately upon hearing the news," she said.
"Everyone is just pulling together and grieving for this terrible tragedy."
Canadian Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau thanked all those who participated in the rescue effort and offered his condolences to the victims and their families.
"I know first-hand of this coastal area's natural beauty and the many people who visit here from all around the world," said Mr Trudeau, who won Canada's national elections last week.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the passengers, the crew, and their families at this most difficult time. We will continue to offer them support in the days ahead."

South African students continue fees protest

Some South African students are continuing university fee protests, despite the president agreeing to freeze increases. Three universities remain closed, with students demanding free quality education for all. The protests started last week when university management announced a 10-12% increase in fees. They have been the biggest student protests to hit the country since apartheid ended in 1994.

Lagos To Purchase 3 Helicopters To Battle Crime And Tackle Traffic

Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday said that his administration has concluded plans to purchase three helicopters next month to enable security agencies tackle criminal activities from the air as well assist in monitoring traffic gridlock to ease movement across the metropolis. Ambode made the disclosure while speaking as a guest on a popular radio programme, Soni Irabor Live (SIL) on Inspiration FM. He said he was deeply concerned about the increased spate of robbery incidents in some areas of the state, expressing optimism that the helicopters will go a long way to aid security and traffic surveillance in the state. He appealed to residents in the state to join hands with his government to make it successful. “We are in this together, all Lagosians. It is your government; you put me there; I’m your servant and I’m ready for criticism. I’m listening and I believe strongly that you have a say in this government because it is an inclusive government. No matter where you come from, no matter your creed or colour, this is your government. I appeal that Lagosians should join hands with me; tolerate whatever it is that you are seeing and make sure that you also carry out your own civic obligations. Pay your taxes because it is the only way that Lagos can grow and you know, the bottom line is this, we all need to work together to achieve a safer Lagos; a cleaner Lagos; and a more prosperous Lagos and that is what all of us are going to do,” he said.

Foiled Boko Haram Attack In Lagos: Lagosians Urged To Remain Calm But Very Vigilant

Speaking against the background of the arrest by the Department of State Services of 45 suspected Boko Haram members who allegedly planned to attack Dolphin Estate in Ikoyi, the Lagos State government expressed confidence in the combined efforts of DSS, Police and other security agencies to keep the state free of terror attacks and stamp out robberies and violent crimes. The Lagos State Government has urged citizens in the state to remain calm but very vigilant as the Police and other security agencies intensify their efforts to rid the state of hoodlums, armed robbers and suspected terrorists. In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, the state government vowed not to relent in its constitutional duty to ensure safety of lives and property throughout the length and breadth of the state. The statement said the current reality is that times have changed and the need to urge every citizen to be more security conscious is now paramount. “Due to the economic hardship being experienced all over the country with many states and private business owners battling with payments of salaries and wages, Lagos State has become the prime destination for several thousands of people who now throng the daily with no plan to return, because they believe this is the state where economic succor is available”, Ayorinde said. The statement said not only is this internal exodus into Lagos putting an unprecedented pressure on road infrastructure and traffic management as well as a burden on housing and hospitals all across the state, it has also constituted security threat which now requires every citizen to be extra vigilant. “Our appeal goes to every school, housing estates, religious houses, markets and shopping complexes, hotels and restaurants and sporting arenas to take issues of security and personal safety more serious these days and to work with both the government and security agencies in promptly reporting any persons with suspicious activities or unusual gatherings that may compromise security. Care must also be taken in how domestic servants and house aides are also employed.” The statement reiterated Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s directive to rid the state of hoodlums and miscreants operating from uncompleted and abandoned houses, urging owners of such properties to complete or secure them or have the Law to contend with. It added that Lagos State government sympathizes with victims of robberies and violent crimes, while promising that the government would continue to fund the state security apparatus and do everything within its power to arrest the unwholesome situation.

So Sad!! 400 Level Female Student Of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Dies (Photo)

It is with an heavy heart that we announce the passing on of Hon. Maria Atere, a 400 level student of Plant physiology and Crop production. She was involved in an accident along Camp- Sch gate road, Ogun-Osun axis. her bike was hit by a car. She was immediately rushed to a Hospital at camp ‘Ideal clinic’, the doctor on seeing her condition told the Funaabite that accompanied her that she needed to be taken to Federal Medical center Abeokuta. The Funaabite in turn contacted Funaabsu President who sent some of the Excos with the Union bus to check on her, while he went to the school’s health center to get a referral letter for Hon Maria to be taken to FMC, but the Doctor instead asked that she should brought to the Health center before he can issue any letter. The President explained to him that it was a critical situation and that bringing her to the Health center was going to result in time wastage, the doctor didn’t bulge and refused to write the letter. The doctor at Ideal Clinic instead wrote the letter and she was conveyed to FMC with Funaabsu bus, along with Ogun Nans Bus instead of the school’s Ambulance. The bus got there within 10mins. She was announced dead moments after she was taken to FMC. An hour later after we had lost Hon. Maria, the school’s Ambulance called that they were at camp. It would not have taken the Doctor at the school’s health center to write a referral letter and order the school’s Ambulance to take her there.

IGR: 5 Reasons Why Northern States Perform Poorly

Yesterday, We Posted a News on How Much all States in Nigeria Generated Internally (IGR) and majority of the States in the Northern part of Nigeria perform poorly.. Lagos generates the Most.. You can See the List HERE The purpose of this thread is not to encourage states in the Northern region to continue to perform poorly in terms of Internally Generated Revenue, but to identify factors that are causing the problem: with a view to eradicating it, and also to inform Nigerians so they can have a balanced perception. So here are the reasons: 1. Insecurity Businesses can only prosper in a safe and secure environment. It is from those businesses that government can raise revenue through taxation. With the activities of Boko Haram and dare devil Herd’s men, we have seen a dramatic deterioration in the security of lives and properties in the North. Hence, businesses activities have declined there and so also has IGR. Improve security in the North and watch investment flood in and watch their IGR skyrocket. 2. Poverty It is no rumour that states with the highest level of poverty are in the North. If poverty is high, how can their state government raise revenue from the people? Eradicate poverty and watch their IGR rise. 3. Emphasis On Crude Oil By Government Since 1976, successive Nigerian governments continue to see crude oil as a cheap and quick means of raising revenue. The result is that, development, improvement and investment in agriculture (this is where Northern states have comparative advantage) has declined over the years and so also has revenue that could have been gotten by state governors in the North from the agricultural sector. 4. Underdeveloped Tax System Relative to the South, tax system in the North can be described as underdeveloped. All factors listed above also contribute to this.issue. With an ineffective method of collecting, remitting and accounting for taxes collected in the Northern states, expecting their IGR to grow is like expecting a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. NOTE:- That the West, East and Southern states have high IGR is pointer to the fact that their tax system is improving. However, an IGR that is fuelled by double taxation and all other sorts of parasitic means of raising revenue by state government of these regions is totally unacceptable. 5. Capitalism vs Socialism I have observed that much of the IGR of the non Northern region is contributed by the private sector. This means that capitalism is gaining root in this region compared to the North. Although there is the inherent tendency of exploitation in a capitalist society, Northern state governments should continue to encourage private sector led growth in their region while providing an enabling environment for businesses to grow. Tension In Jos As Election Tribunal Set To Rule On Plateau Governor Election

There is palpable tension in Plateau State as the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, the state capital, is set to deliver judgment in the petition brought before it by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, GNS Pwajok, challenging the election of Barrister Simon Bako Lalong as the governor of Plateau State in the April 2015 governorship election. Lalong contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Chieftains of both the APC and PDP are already flexing muscles on the outcome of the case. There are indications that the judgement will be delivered on Monday. Disturbed by this growing threat, the PDP Youth Forum in the state has called on its members to remain calm whatever way the outcome of the judgement. In a press statement by the state Chairman of the forum, Joel Jonathan, the Forum attacked the APC. Jonathan said the state Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Musa Sati, had in a comment insinuated that some people are planning insurrection in the event that the judgment does not go in their favour. The chairman urged the security agencies to hold Sati responsible in the event of any crisis since he knows of a plan to destabilize the state. The statement said: “It will be recalled that the 2008 LG election crises started when the opposition party then lost the elections and brought their unruly supporters to kill and maim innocent citizens as a way of venting their anger for the populace rejection of an alien party in the state. “We pray the APC is not trying to adopt the policy of accusing the PDP of what it is planning to do like past by unleashing terror to innocent citizens.” Jonathan also condemned a situation where Governor Lalong and his deputy traveled to Israel with their spouses and their aides, leaving the state without direction and at a time when salaries and allowances of workers and pensioners have not been settled. According to the Chairman: “This is the highest sense of recklessness and carelessness towards the peoples’ welfare. “The PDP Youth Forum condemns in totality, the recent posting of Civil Servants based on ethnic and religious biases where the people of Shendam and Mangu were favoured to the detriment of other tribes. “The Forum calls for the cancellation of the posting, allowing the proper thing, justice and fairness to be seen to be done so as not to bastardize the Plateau State Civil Service. The retired and reversed Permanent Secretaries that were unduly treated be given justice, fairness and equality to boost their morale.” - See more at: http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/2015/10/26/tension-in-jos-as-election-tribunal-set-to-rule-on-plateau-governor-election/#sthash.4dmuKaNO.dpuf
